General HEAT Discussion / Re: slack invitation failed
« on: November 28, 2017, 10:07:42 PM »
guys, I'd like to join slack channel too.

There seem to be issues with the user cap in Slack as well as some other annoying stuff, hence some community members are currently looking into alternatives, such as Riot. Hoping that there will be proper updates soon!

is the community dead?

No, the Slack is not. But that has issues with the user cap, hence alternatives are being checked as we speak.

If you refer to this forum: agree with you that the forum is hardly used...

HEAT Server issues / Re: Can't Forge From Windows GUI
« on: November 17, 2017, 01:04:01 PM »
Are you having the correct Java dev kit installed? To install and run heatledger you need Java JDK 1.8 or higher installed, note that JDK is different from standard java distributions.

For the slack, there is a correct working link now:

HEAT Server issues / Re: server didn't accept blocks
« on: November 17, 2017, 01:01:06 PM »
Hi both, just sharing some suggestions here a I am not able to share a full solution:
- Questions: What version are you on (server must be 2.0.0, this is incorporated in the Desktop version of 2.2.0)? Are you running on Windows? Did it work as normal before?
- What you can Always try is to delete the blockchain folder in the heatledger folder (should be in appdata somewhere), and after that just start the server again and see whether it is able to get in sync normally. This happens to some very occasionally. Once in sync, you can start forging as usual

Anything you guys already tried yourself to get it to work again?

Update on heatpool fee structure and some other rules:
I was stunned earlier today to see that the forging pool success is huge, with a current total stake just surpassing the 1M HEAT line! While I enjoy the enthusiasm, I must say that this makes it highly complicated to use my manual calculations on a day to day basis, as per day more than 100 blocks will be forged and the API does not even go beyond those 100 blocks (I use the API currently for a query in Excel). At the same time I also want to state that while I wanted to keep my pool free, I actually want to take a part of this back by installing a progressive fee structure to cover my efforts during the day (which are higher than anticipated), as well as to encourage big holders perhaps also to start creating a HEAT node of their own to improve the overall network stability AND also by getting some more donations towards the HEAT lottery which should serve as an additional driver to create your own node for staking. There is a great guide on heatnodes.org which can be used for this one, on a cheap VPS with Linux.

So without further ado, find below my updated fee structure for the heatpool, based on the amount of HEAT per holder (effective immediately for new lessors; current lessors remain free for their remaining leasing period):
  • <10K HEAT: 0% (free)
  • Between 10k and 25k: 0.5% for me as pool owner, 0.25% towards the HEAT node lottery
  • Between 25k and 50k: 1% for me as pool owner, 0.5% towards the HEAT node lottery
  • Above 50k: 1.5% for me as pool owner, 0.5% towards the HEAT node lottery

Some additional rules I would like to install from now on (effective immediately)
  • Rewards payouts should be requested not more often than once per week. Your cumulative rewards are included in your stake in the calculation, so no need to do more regular payouts
  • Please do not ask for reward payouts if there is hardly anything to payout, which I consider everything below 5 HEAT
  • As mentioned in my earlier instructions, I will only process the payout upon your request in the heatwallet
  • For a leasing period, don't use anything below 10000 blocks as it won't bring you much + I have a challenge in notifying those due to my manual daily check.

I hope you all understand the rationale behind this update

Hi VonGraff,

Thanks for your reply.
Will I automatically receive my forged heat when the period ends?

I will surely start a new leasing period after this one ends, it was that short as I wanted to test this.

Kind regard,
Blinq

Whenever I notice that someone is not leasing anymore, I will send the reward which the account generated. It's not automatic though!

You can see the heatpool rewards and effective balance at heatpool.org. Still in Excel, but you can see that the total stake of the pool is close to 500k at this moment...

You can also check up on each pool account in the heatwallet to check the pool stats.

Anything similar to this? https://lompsa.com/#/activity/fim/forgers/latest
It would be nice to see "the whole picture" at a glance.

This page exists at heatnodes, but does not list which ones are pools...
https://heatnodes.org/?page_id=187

Currently the heatpool is at the 9th spot, with close to 500k HEAT still

Now I successfully leased to your pool (after trying the other pool for a few days).

I have a question: Where can I see the block reward distribution between the pools (and other forgers)? I'd like to lease to the pool that has the least forging power at any given time, in e.g. few weeks intervals.

Who can I address this issue to?

Either join the slack and reach out to heatledger or wait for Eliphaz to respond in this forum.

I read that you’re not alone in this matter, not sure what is wrong with the fimk deposits myself.

Hi, I am new on heat. I would like to join your forging pool. I tried the option "balance lease" and used the adress 7210663383474895503.
However, I still see my balance. Was it still leased to you?

Hi Blinq, welcome here!

I see your lease inbound, as after you clicked on "send", the lease needs 1440 confirmations on the blockchain, before your balance is counted in the effective balance of the pool (and you can check that on the lessors tab on the pool's account in the heatwallet to see whether you are there). Note that you've used a period of 2880 blocks, which only is 1 day. Your rewards will accumulate in the pool, it will be easier for me to manage if you're using a longer period (anything above 20000 blocks, about a few days) is easier, hence much appreciated.

You will anyway always still see your balance, as your heat is still yours, except that you can't forge with it yourself as you leased that part to the pool. You can notice this by the effect that you don't have an effective balance anymore.

Let me know if you have any more questions!

27
I don't know your account ID, but the negative remain blocks is OK, as long as you see the pool ID underneath the "lease" on your account tab, you're leasing your heat to the pool. If you were not leasing, you would see "None" instead.

28
Great and welcome! Already noticed the lease and added the id’s to my file!

Yeah that could be the reason for that ...

So is it a Genesis account? If so, create a new one and use that for the Pool  ;)
