HEAT Server issues / HEAT API Function Missing
« on: August 07, 2017, 11:16:22 PM »
I am adapting my FIMK pool code so that I am ready once the HEAT leasing goes active.  In updating my code, I found a FIMK API call that was not recreated in the HEAT API.  I have looked for similar functions that accomplish the same goal, but haven't found a new set of function calls that accomplish the same thing as the FIMK API does.

FIMK API Function:  getAccountLessors

This function returns that list of lessors to an account at a specific block height.  This is useful for determining how to divide up the block reward.

As the leasing functionality is yet to be active, this function may still be added to the API.  Can anyone confirm this is being added?

Great! Thanks!

I sent Dennis a PM a while back but hadn't heard anything.  If he can check the PM, that would be awesome.  I'll post my other API question in its own thread.

HEAT Server issues / API Questions
« on: August 06, 2017, 11:25:30 PM »
I have some technical questions for developer about API and how HEAT server operates internally.  Is this the right forum for these questions?  Or is there a better way to contact dev?

General HEAT Discussion / POP Rewards
« on: August 06, 2017, 03:06:33 AM »
I was looking at the block explorer and noticed that there is a POP reward for each block.  Is this the true POP reward or is it just on by default without requiring the POP proof?  I was out of the loop for about 2 months a while back and was thinking maybe I missed it going live...

HEAT Wallet discussion / Re: Heatserver 0.9.29 released.

Can you confirm you are using the very latest version from Even if you do think you are could you please try and install again plus delete and redownload the blockchain from scratch.

The behavior you are seeing is to be expected if the "trimming" functionality would be behaving badly. The trimming involves the removal of rollback data which advances by 1 block and always acts on the last block from 720 blocks in the past.

I have inspected our own servers and am not seeing the behavior you are experiencing we also have some Ubuntu 16.04 64 bit servers like you do.

Thank you for reporting and please let us know what the outcome is of a reinstall.

I deleted everything, except my own config file.  I copied everything over and restarted server.  Same thing....  Then I looked at my config file.  I had added my own maxRollback set at some high value.  After commenting this out, it fixed the problem.

I was playing with this config setting because I needed to for FIMK.  This setting in HEAT has a much larger impact on file size than it did in FIMK.

My bad....   :-[

I double checked and then I deleted the blockchain and restarted the server just to make sure.

These are screen shots from WinSCP of my server.  Ubuntu 16.04 64 bit  (even though username is "pi")

Screen shot halfway through the memory mapping

Screen shot after memory mapping complete (notice 85 GB for total listed at bottom)

Screen shot of SSH session to show timestamp differences when creating files.  This is an average speed HDD.  Accounts and Accounts-assets took nearly 1 minute to map.

I just updated to this new version on my VPS but can't run it.  I am re-downloading the blockchain but the initial startup doesn't have enough room to create the DB files.  I did the same thing on another server but didn't have any problems.  I looked at the blockchain directory and saw that it is using 84 GB of space.  Why is it using that much space?  I was running a server on a VPS but I can't if that is going to be the space requirement.

HEAT Wallet discussion / Re: HEAT Transaction Fees
« on: January 29, 2017, 08:05:20 PM »
The API shows wrong. Default and minimum tx fee is 0.01 HEAT. Asset issuance is 10 HEAT.

Thanks! I figured as much but wanted to make sure my pool scripts were written correctly

Temporary faucet would really be nice so ppl could get accounts and confirm their forging setups really work.

A few HEAT aren't going to forge much so it would be hard to confirm whether it is working.  If you forging, then you are probably using the API already, so just use the mining info function to confirm you are forging.!/Mining/info

Is balance leasing available yet?  If not, is there a timeframe?

HEAT Wallet discussion / HEAT Transaction Fees
« on: January 29, 2017, 04:02:09 AM »
What is the default fee?

The block explorer shows that most transactions have 0.01 fee, but API says 1.0 fee!/Transactions/sendMoney

Does the API just need updated?

HEAT Wallet discussion / Re: How to create an account?
« on: January 29, 2017, 01:36:20 AM »
In the exchange page you will see your account number for example. The question mark is just a notice that the account does not have a public key yet, that is, no transactions have been made to it/from it.

It may be a notice, but because the account has not done any transactions, the UI doesn't allow you to send any HEAT to the new account.  How is a new account supposed to create a public key if you can't receive any messages or HEAT?

I have my online wallet opened with the account number to the right and that is it.  I don't see where the addresses are ect.  Is anyone having problems like me?

Now my wallet is opened with a green bar ontop that says (POS warming up)  and my account number is not there anymore.

I am having the same issue.  I created a new account with a new secret phrase.  How do I get the account number on a new account?

We have the HEAT live mainnet now launched at

First blocks take time to come in as base target is normalized. This is standard for POS based releases.

POS + POP rewards are combined in the first release, disabled for the first 4320 blocks (1-2 days) to ensure p2p network stability and give time for people to set up servers for forging. We use one of the 500k dev accounts and a smaller one for initial forging (without rewards until block 4320) before which the dev accounts are removed from the forging power.

Does the UI have the ability to start forging?  Or must we use our local server's API?

BTW Warmach's pool at start was a marginal pool. It got traction later when it became cheapest and more convenient alternative for less active part of FIMK holders. It's now only victim of it's own success and unusual circumstances.

Ebrelus is right.  My initial stake was only 400K and I was a tiny forger compared to the rest of the network.  At the time, there were a few pools but most required a minimum of 500K or 1000K balance to forge.  I created pool to help the smaller forgers on the network, myself being one of them.

If you look now at the forgers,  the majority have a very small balance.  I think these are mostly Finnish nationals who have been receiving their FIMK income.  The whales looking for the next big thing have all gone running to HEAT hoping to reap big, short term rewards.  FIMK is more in the hands of Finnish citizens than ever.  I think the success/failure of FIMK will be decided not by big short term investors, but by the average Finnish citizen.
