Please make the voting in the Bitcointalk Heat thread.
in this forum will vote everybody for his own design... and im pretty sure 70% of all users are only joined this forum to make a design even they are not invested in heat.

to have a nice and fair vote.. i pretty would suggest to make it on the thread.

I never use things where i have no copyright.
read the thread before talking such stuff.

For Heat i didn´t bought any of stockphotos.
Even if i would its not plagiarism!

U don´t understand the idea behind stockexchanges?
However, creating a logo is something special, when guys use stuff from stockphotos here right now.. its just stupid!

A logo has to been unique. and not from exchanges!

And this is how a designer works, decide what u need, what u have to create, how can u match everything together!
Inspiring sure, but plagiarism is never a way!

So .. please informate right before talking such things.

I think that case is not plagiarism, but violating copyright. He buy that stock and use it on contest which is illegal in all creative contest  as far i know, unless he provide source link for it and tell the contest holder.

i understand what you mean dodolalopo,
that would be right, if it would be an artist contest.
but it was a contest for creating a Christmas Card.
And i have the Copyright of it.. like i said.

here is a quote from the license from shutterstock.

"[...]Incorporated into merchandise intended for sale or promotional distribution (collectively "Merchandise"), including, without limitation, textiles, artwork, magnets, wall-art, calendars, toys, stationery, greeting cards, and any other physical reproduction for resale or distribution, provided that such Merchandise incorporates material creative or functional elements apart from the Image(s).[...]"

"Incorporated into film, video, television series, advertisement, or other multimedia productions for distribution in any medium now known or hereafter devised (each a "Production"), without regard to audience size, provided the budget for any such Production does not exceed USD $10,000;"

we can talk more about it. but in this case.. how ever u look in that its not plagiarism or violating copyright.. because i own the license/copyright.

Normaly i don´t care about posts like that from cockroach, because i know what i do.
Im a professional graphic designer and i know the rules of copyright.

I never would use exchange photos that are the basics for a brand.
In that case it was a simple christmas cards for kids - i was correct in the license because im the owner of it.
And it was well edited and designed - kids would be happy. I spend money to save my time for things that wasnt worth to design on my own. (fucking 0.065BTC)
For that amount no designer will even power on his mac.

If anyone still have superficial knowledge to call someone "plagiarism" - feel free.
But that isn´t right. I know my business.

Im feeling sore to have a conversation like that, because i don´t care if my logo´s wins or not - i want the best for heat.. and don´t want to rund down "competitors" because we should be a team.
a nice community.

I'm sory kalipo in that quote doesn't said u have right to use it on contest, yes as buyer you can use it on other any "promotional" item but not for "contest", im sure you understand differentiation between promotional item and contest/competition word. For heat logo competition it self i don't wanna judging any logo here, i don't have right to do it. But if someone finding the logo that copy from someone/stock i encourage to report it because if that logo win it could harm heat it self.

You still misunderstanding about using it for promotional purpose or contest purpose, it really big difference.
If im contest holder and running $1000 of prize, and one of contestant using stock which is only $1 or less not even create something for it, isn't that called cheating?
Look kalipo, my posting is only advice from professional perspective not to attacking you, so don't feel offended. hope you learn from it.

i understand what u want to say. i just don´t share ur opinion in that case. (for a christmas card, with no id branding and no attention to hire a illustration artist, and this low budget. yes it was not very creativ, but legit.)

if you want to discuss more about it please skype me: awesomecrystal11

have a nice day kalipo :)

It's not opinion, it's how the thing work. since crowdsource system grown and expanded i'm already participate on it from beginning. Many contest i've already entered, some won some lose, also already saw many designer fallen because of copyright violation and some of them is exactly same like you experience. If you still stand with what you think go ahead, but i suggest you don't repeat same mistake because if you do it in crowdsource website like 99designs or freelancer, crowdspring or others, you will get perma ban.
sure if you want discuss it more, you can pm me for email

Have a nice day :)

Thread split from HEAT logo discussion.

Personally I don't think there's anything suspicious in buying rights for stock image and implementing modifications for general gfx work such as Xmas cards. As a customer though, I'd sure like to know if the idea isn't wholly original.

For company brand / logo design and contest, whichever, it'd be harder to push through a design that's based on stock image. Depends on how much it's modified etc. It's definitely a requirement for the designer to disclose that. Kalipo has indicated this isn't relevant to his brand design, so we're content with that.
