With windows client 0.1.1, there is Create account.  If I try to use the generated secret phrase on web wallet at heatwallet.com, it allows to sign in but there's "Unknown account" exclamation mark on right of screen.
Also, when trying to start mining, I get {"errorDescription":"Unknown account","errorCode":3}

So, how does the account really become an account, or what am I missing?

Version 0.1.1 is the old testnet. The testnet has been closed and the mainnet has launched.

The easiest way to do it is to use either the webwallet https://heatwallet.com
If you know how to compile it your self want can do it from github. They should release a compliled UI wallet today, if you dont want/know how to complile it your self.

I can't see a way to create new account on https://heatwallet.com. If I put a random string to Secret Phrase -field of https://heatwallet.com/#/login it will just say "Unknown account" when I hover mouse over the exclamation mark on the right.

In the exchange page you will see your account number for example. The question mark is just a notice that the account does not have a public key yet, that is, no transactions have been made to it/from it.

It may be a notice, but because the account has not done any transactions, the UI doesn't allow you to send any HEAT to the new account.  How is a new account supposed to create a public key if you can't receive any messages or HEAT?

You can send transactions to any account, old or now. For unpublished accounts, just do NOT try to include any payment message. Encrypted messages require the public key of the recipient or they can't be encrypted.

The UI regarding that is gonna be clarified.
