We need professional design for HEAT coin / badge symbol and herewith start a contest open for anyone. The final design is supposed to be used as the symbol for the HEAT token, and may or may not be used in other materials of Heat Ledger Ltd such as company logo.
Competition is open until Sunday October 16th midnight unless closed prematurely or extended. Multiple rounds to qualify the best designs and decide between their improved iterations may be needed.
Guidelines:
- the design should include a HEAT symbol sitting on a badge / coin style format
- the design may include the text HEAT, it's however not mandatory
- versions displayed should be 16 x 16 pixels and 256 x 256 pixels for each entry
- larger resolution (up to 1024 x 1024 pix) needs to be available before winner is paid the bounty
By paying the winning prize of 1 BTC Heat Ledger Ltd receives all rights to the provided design from the designer.
Crude sample drafts for inspiration are presented in this post - with the III idea and 1h idea kindly provided by Kalipo, and the @ idea provided by Mr.coinzy. Other competitors are free to use the sample designs, or one of their own, as a starting point. In case a design incorporating suitable part of one of the sample designs wins, the original provider is paid 0.5 BTC bounty in addition to the 1 BTC reward of the winner. The additional bounty may be adjusted downwards, in case the winning design doesn't prominently use the suggested symbol but could be considered to be based on it.

I think you may have to scale up the actual symbol/letter part of the logo to make it work.

- Here are a couple rough ideas. I'm not that great with photoshop skills, I did these with an online photo editor :P It needs to be made nicer, but I think these are good starting concepts for logo design. I welcome anyone to take these ideas and make bigger images for them, and we can share the bounty if it wins. Of these 2, I like the first one better. Among many others posted in this thread :)

And don't underestimate the importance of the small 16x16 pixels format. That is how the logos are presented at coinmarketcap.com. It is also a good indicator if the design can withstand scaling and if it is recognisable from a distance.
Imo the best way is to save them as png with transparent background. Then you have the logo only without extra hassle. I think the logo should be appealing as a logo only in it's pure shape and form without extra graphics flashy texts etc. This is why I did the comparison table and I will update it when I can.
- The resolution is not actually in the requested format of 256x256 simply for enhanced display purpose on the forum. Since the logo is in vectorial format,it can be resized at 1 px or even 1 000 000 px.

I really like the idea behind this creation. The compass in itself could be a little more like the old mythic 'vegvisir' and the shapes of the 'H' inside a bit more thiner. Now they look too chubby. But the idea that HEAT is here to lead the way with flames of passion is a great one.
I do not know if there was an intentional forthbringing of the symbol of the Sun (circumpunct) but this really kicks ass. Great work!

the second exemple have the same concept of my first submission which dosent look like it all since i dont need to read books to find inspiration but you should put all this effort on leveling up your design skills instead.

yeah, pick wisely :) it happen in many competition, mostly logo. nothing wrong to use generic design, you have risk to use it. but plagiarism is totally wrong.

Kalipo's III symbol, or the variation by HWiz by itself isn't cryptic. I think it's very strong as a symbol for the HEAT token and possibly simple enough to be a logo for the company. It's the surrounding imagery that needs to be aligned to perfect if we wish to use it as an actual logo.

As much as I like intricate designs, I think simplicity is probably a better route for branding and marketing purposes.

This gold one looks interesting, and the complexity is more subtle because of the light colouring. It might be too similar to Bitcoin though.
Personally I love the little hieroglyphics but I'm a bit of a nutter with stuff like that. Not sure it will be the wisest choice though.
I still think some of kalipo designs are best like the (h) or "maybe" the III, in some way or another. I think fokiupaymi designs are in my opinion, both very good proposals, the red flame is very iconic, unique, simple. One of the simpler ones would be more symbolic, simple, and convey what I believe the vision behind heat is from my understanding (although it would be nice to clarify the Vision of Heat...perhaps in a post?)

Right - maybe we could work on that III + H themed icon still during the next 24 hours (other, new suggestions are welcome too).
Notice there is supposed to be the text "Heuristically Enhanced Asynchronous Transactions" in Nordic Rune Font on the sideline of my bad quality draft. It could be expanded to encircle the full round, and of course needs further stylishing (possibly more modern than the ancient style).
I need to state something here from a professional perspective. Yes I work on visual stuff daily basis. There are some adequate designs here and some amateurish. Now unfortunatelly those "III" (especially with out of date serif-font, rune etc) ideas fall on the amateurish side even just because it might be a nice idea to start with but evidently will not work on a contemporary logo-design. I just hope those who decide on this would take in consideration the fact that a good logo design is indeed not a matter of one's personal taste. If you would want to serve the business side of this i.e. create the best possible public image for HEAT you should ask a couple of professional outsiders how to go about this and I can assure you the outcome would be very different from amateur decision.
- Gvans, thanks for your input. That all has been acknowledged and my intervention in this thread is just about personal preferences and ideas in steering the competition forward. Runes for HEAT are obviously a no-go like I hinted a couple of times already, although it has been useful to see them in action for clarity. The logo / symbol will be chosen and adjusted in co-operation with visual professionals.
We'll likely choose a limited set for an advisory community vote round before any final decisions.

- Heat network stability is still being worked on daily, and the token isn't yet on track. That's the reason side issues such as the forum tipping mod and related promised gimmick for logo contest participants hasn't been progressing. Patience is a virtue, and a lot of patience is better than little :o
